Under 11's Girls 4

REAL CARLTON 2

This match saw Venture in excellent form against a fine opposition.

Steve "Paz" Parry opened the scoring after linking up with Gaz Willows and Tez Kavanagh to leave their defence confused. Paz finished it with a fine shot that the keeper could only watch.

Real Carlton pulled one back before half time with a shot through our defence. Mat Whittle saw it too late and the ball went past his out-stretched arm.

Half - time 1 - 1

The 2nd half saw pressure from both teams and both keepers and defence were kept busy. Carlton had a shot from Paz saved off the line and Gaz had many chances saved or just wide. A good ball from Mat in goal sent Paz on a run down the wing. He beat their defenders and crossed the ball into the box for their center back to half clear. The ball landing sweet for Alex Bowles to send a rocket into their net - keeper had no chance really.

Mat Whittle did a high tackle on Carltons winger in the area after the ball had gone and the ref awarded a penalty. Mat redeemed himself by pulling off a fine save to keep the score at 2 - 1.

A scramble in their box resulted in Alex putting the ball in the back of the net to earn him 5 goals in 2 games.

Tez Kavanagh was deemed to be off side on a number of occasions but carried on trying until he was took out and had to go off injured. Our 1st chioce keeper - Dominic "Harry Potter" Lequelenec - has been out all season with a back problem but came on today for a run out, and it wasn't long before he scored his 1st goal in league football...making it 4 - 1 to Venture.

Real Carlton put on the pressure in the last 15 and kept Ventures defence busy. Glenn Neale headed off the line for the 2nd time in as many weeks but they managed a long range shot which Mat couldn't keep out. The score ended 4 - 2 to Venture and pushed us a little further up the league.

A very good performance by all the lads from Venture and a good match all round.
